March 18,19, 2000 – Leadership Training Seminar, Patton Campus, Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown for incoming District Deputy Grand Matrons, Membership Chairmen, General Chairmen and Co-Chairmen of all Committees to inform all of plans for the upcoming Grand Chapter year.

Membership- with the decline of membership partially due to an elderly membership, emphasis will be membership.

BE A FRIEND  This being a year of SERVICE, the members were encouraged to ‘Be A Friend’ and work with the Membership Committee, to help members in their own Chapters or the Community, whatever the need may be.

PA OES NEWSPAPER AND TRAVEL DIRECTORY

Two Projects of SERVICE and PUBLIC RELATIONS were to print six (6) issues of a PA OES NEWSPAPER and have a TRAVEL DIRECTORY. The Newspaper was sent to each member in PA. The first issue had twelve (12) pages and the sixth issue had twenty-four (24) pages. The newspaper was Tabloid size. A TRAVEL DIRECTORY was given to each Chapter to be placed on the Secretary’s desk during each Chapter meeting.

BLOOD/ORGAN DONOR COMMITTEE  Chapters were provided with information to join this program.

Masonic Homes of PA purchased Valley Care Nursing Home at Sewickley.
Ground was broken for the STAR POINTS BUILDING, a 68 bed assisted living facility, to be finished fall of 2001.

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS – Outreach Project of Grand Chapter-$113,275.74 given to MS Research.

Caring and Sharing – $81,544.55 given to the Fraternal Fund, a Fund to help members in their own homes or with serious illness.

Masonic Homes – Over $136,000.00 donations from Homes Auxiliary, Homes Service and interest on Endowment Funds.

Scholarships – 133 Educational and ESTARL Scholarships given.

Noah’s Ark – Over 5,000 Noah’s Ark Tacs were sold by Arlene’s Ark Angels.

$29,000 was given to various charities.
